Farewell Ballerina

The curtain is laying down

The lights are turned bright

Rainbow colors reflect from the hardwood

Nerves begin to rise

Hear the audience chatter

Stagehands scrambling about

Farewell Ballerina

The curtain is laying down

The lights are turned bright

Rainbow colors reflect from the hardwood

Nerves begin to rise

Hear the audience chatter

Stagehands scrambling about

Sure my pointes are tied

Warm my legs and arms

The corps are in place ready

Pas partner gently comforts me

Years of training expressions to show

My turn has arose a seed

Now blooming ballerina

Tutu swaying wrapped my body

Physical hurt no one knows of

"Places everybody"

Delibes sound waves awash theatre

Partner and I intertwined

Our body's become one

Smiling at ourselves

Lifted above by firm hands

Gently rolling out of the Pas de deux

Fouetté on tip of my toes

Audience claps appreciates our motion

Glaring lights grace the stage

I am trapped within a magical world

As one with the cast members

Delivering my best as be

My partner and I accept the claps

A final bow a farewell on stage

Tears of joy tears of years

Of dancers I have known

known choreographers that gave

A ballerina as I say farewell

Stage is empty a note of silence

Bag is packed to the stage door

Last time feeling internal excitement

Last time I will engage performance

Last time on my pointes farewell
